The most talked about subject, not only by the Banal TV shows and degrading government funded lotteries that encourage greed. But also by so-called financial experts relentlessly saying we can’t afford to retire with less than a million dollars stashed away, not to mention being debt free and paying off the mortgage.
Then there is the endless ‘buy, buy, buy‘ lobby, for more, better, bigger, newer stuff, mindless commercialism to accumulate ever more possessions.
As you may have guessed by now, I’m advocating a frugal lifestyle, with less of the anxiety and often painful results of accumulating uneeded objects and debts, or may be quite content to live without!
No I’m NOT proposing you only shop at the thrift store, or live on water and gruel. But stop and consider; do I really need that overpriced whip latte? Could I drive my car less often, even consider public transit or carpooling!? For recreation what about a stroll on the beach., and/or have a conversation with a stranger, no cost involved! Check out library books, invite a friend to come over for coffee, or a meal instead of going to a restaurant. How about giving up on wine… (just kidding, but maybe drink a little less 🙂
So pay little or no attention to those financial fear mongers, just do the best you can!
