Human flight is now an accomplished fact.  In only about 100 years mankind has achieved this goal to an amazing degree. That surprising fact seems to suggest there has always been an inexplicable, even genetic, human desire even a compulsion for flight.

However at this time in history that compulsion has even reached a desire to ‘go beyond’ the earth itself! But why, we may ask? Of course there are many possible reasons, such as a desire to escape the degradation and failures of mankind on earth. Or maybe its just a focus on human accomplishment, something like sports teams success.

Whatever the motive, exploration outside the physical boundaries of earth has only confirmed one thing; this jewel of a planet is totally and uniquely ‘designed’ for human habitation. No other celestial body comes even close to earth’s fleshly life’s amenities!

As to our desire for flight however, I can only speculate, but it has always been mine. The satisfaction I experienced when fortunate enough to indulge that desire as a private pilot and airplane owner will never, ever, be exceeded. Please see my posting:   Flight to be remembered:
