Reality check; never mind ‘Covid-19 fatigue’, how about ‘TV fatigue’!?
Their is no denying TV is a big part of normal 21st century life for a vast majority of mankind. My question is; how many times are we willing to be exposed to the portrayal of gun violence; gross dead bodies; and devious police interviews, to name a few; add nauzeum!
Ok ok, I admit it, some of these well-acted, well-used, format are entertaining, there’s no denying it, assuming you have the desire and patience to watch them that is.
However doesn’t it seem to you that such often repeated programs have become the predominant format producers are ready and willing to embrace for TV production?
Is it because like most current movie productions; some level of ’emotional shock value‘, is the primary goal? How disappointing is it that a majority of TV feature murder and gross violence, repeated over and over again!?
With few exceptions, such as mindless sitcom comedies, uplifting plots are nearly non-existent. Old movies also contain violence, but not to the exclusion of all else! For example…
….whether you’re old enough to remember; ‘Gone with the Wind’; ‘Black beauty’; ‘The Ten Commandments’; ‘The Wizard of Oz’; ‘Driving Miss Daisy’, Look Who’s Coming to Dinner’; and other quality movies, movies that actually encourage some degree of morality, perhaps even a positive outlook on life! It’s my contention such movies and particularly TV shows are real exceptions today. Of course these are merely arbitrary choices, I apologize for that.
Today, positive TV entertainment is most often ‘missing in action’, replaced by degrading immorality, or in many cases fake spirituality. Are such low-brow movies having a debilitating effect on society?
Indeed the result of such so-called ‘entertainment’ may well be contributing to mental issues, suicides, and youth violence, not to mention a general decline in morality!
If parents take their responsibility seriously, they must first set an example for their children. They have their work cut out for them to oversee children’s access to degrading TV programs, including those from internet sources. A serious effort is required to protect them from the wicked influences spewing out of those portrayals.
Many will agree a much needed change to societies ‘norms’ is critical. According to a careful analysis of scripture that complete change and reversal is, in fact, coming very soon! It was and is clearly outlined in the inspired word of God…for example….
‘Do not be upset because of evil men, or be envious of wrongdoers’; ‘The righteous will possess the earth, and they will live forever on it.’ (Psalms 37:1,29)

After watching a repeat W5 TV show about SETA (searching for extraterrestrial life etc) I have to make a comment;
It seems to me that ‘extraterrestrial life’ is already here but not recognized as such!
No, I’m not referring to unique aquatic creatures, such as the amazing octopus as was suggested in that program, nor any other mysterious deep sea creature.
So what do I believe may be the unrecognized alien creature on earth;
wait for it…..
Indeed its us ‘humans’!
Ridiculous you say.? Well let’s objectively consider the evidence;
First; given a very long history of environmental damage to the earth humans may well be described as the ‘least compatible creature’ on earth.
Next; consider how very few of mankind actually commit to the support of all the other life-forms on earth. To the contrary, human record proves humans actually; exploit; abuse; and outright destroy; everything from flora to fauna, to animals and vegetables. A far cry from benefiting most other life forms on earth.
Finally; many humans are very discontent with their lives on earth and instead are seeking to occupy other places, such as on the planet Mars, or even much further away from earth if the opportunity presented itself.
So for those (alienated humans) so inclined, I must say; maybe that’s where you actually belong…!?
Reading about a courageous woman with a rare disease caused by UV (Ultra Violet radiation) motivates this post.
Of course natural sunshine embodies UV light, but who would doubt 21st century atmospheric conditions do not adversely affect normal delivery of those rays to us today.?
Whether or not that is the case. we do normally require natural sunlight for the production of vitamin D etc. However there are reasons to believe that extra exposure to UV may well be detrimental to our heath.
Therefore I’m writing this post to simply point out, as that woman very well did, that any excess UV exposure can be harmful. How harmful? In her case she can no longer be exposed to normal daylight and must live only as a night person. The frightening disease she has is rare, but who knows how much harm is caused by the constant UV exposure in offices and homes for millions of others by ubiquitous fluorescent lights!?
Case in point: I recently received a diagnosis of BCC (Basal Cell Carcinoma) in an area near my right ear. It’s not considered serious, however that form of cancer is definitely known to be caused by UV radiation, and in my case I firmly believe it was caused by a low wattage, twin-tube, fluorescent reading lamp. In fact I have used that lamp on a daily basis for many years just above my right ear!
True; I have no solid scientific facts to back this up, however take note that the Canadian Cancer Society did not dispute this possibility when I checked with them.
Therefore anyone reading this please take note: the skin damage caused by excessive sun-bathing, or by tanning studio lights, may only be the tip of the iceberg. Its quite clear that prolonged exposure to UV light, be it from the sun, or from fluorescent lighting sources, (including to a lessor degree LED lighting), is definitely dangerous and harmful!
Its hard to imagine an organization with more of an endemic, shameful, immoral, and corrupt record of conduct since the time of the Roman Empire than the RC Church, including its close ties with Nazi’s and organized crime.
Of course there may be some individual members who have ‘clean hands’, but the simple truth is that, as an organization it has proven to be a reprehensible false form of Christian worship, acting in no small way contrary to the very teachings and example of Christ Jesus. In fact it strongly resembles the Jewish religious elements that Jesus boldly and repeatedly condemned, the Pharisees and Sadducees, who were subsequently responsible for his death.
God’s prophet Jeremiah said this about such corrupt religious leaders “…. To me all of them have become like Sodom, and the inhabitants of her like Gomorrah.”—JEREMIAH 23:14. and we do know what action God took against those cities! Should we expect any less judgment now!?
We are supposed to elevate and appreciate actors or actresses that made movies and received recognition for their portrayal by some kind of award etc, but consider this….
Although there are exceptions, the simple truth is that ‘most’ movies are not beneficial, encouraging, or up-building, especially spiritually. In fact they very often strive for shock value, in other words they arguably tend to ‘undermine’ the natural human desire for peace and security.
Most newer movies may actually be emotionally depressing after the shock value wears off, much like the after effect of drugs or alcohol. True there may have been an initial elevation of emotions, some even of some benefit, but the aftermath of violence in films can be quite negative, so is it really worth that roller coaster effect? Please think about it when making entertainment choices.
The claim by those involved in preventing sea turtle extinction is that they have ‘helped’ them. While this may partly seem like a matter of symantecs, the truth is that only human ‘non-intervention’ could rightly be called ‘help’, be it for sea turtles or the hundreds if not thousands of other forms of life on planet earth.
When will it be acknowledged that, in fact, it is human interference and ignorance that is the fundamental reason why all life on earth is threatened! This is not just a matter of symantecs, but a basic reality that needs to be very humbly admitted. Only then will it be possible for us to accept our supreme Creator as the guide to full and complete restoration of planet earth as it was in the very beginning.
That restoration is coming, in spite of human opposition and arrogance, very soon. So we can either submit to the Creator’s purpose, or continue to ignore it, that is the choice he has given us. For more info please visit JW.org
Its not very often I feel truly motivated to write a blog these days, but the extremely disrespectful way in which so-called ‘movie trailer’ ads are foisted on us, particularly in ‘news shows’ is insulting and abusive to the intelligence and common decency of God-fearing people!
Why should we have to be subjected to the extreme violence, depravity, and immorality portrayed in 90% of movies produced today!!? Daily news and reports are bad enough, but they are also now serving as a platform for a depraved 21 century movie industry!
We who are watching world news are being abusively subjected to a continuous onslaught of low-life movie trailer ads that we utterly abhor! Tv news networks serve as subservient tools for a never-ending flow of crap, primarily being produced by the U.S. movie industry!
They find a mere fragment of bone and declare it a multi-thousand year tool of some unproven, unsupported, theoretical pre-human existence, and then blatantly exclaim it as proof of ‘evolution’..? How truly bizarre is this illogical approach to the ‘scientific method’!

So what else is new? The very fabric of this planet, its ecological system’s, and the natural habitat of animals and birds has been progressively undermined, ignored, or even fatally abused… for centuries by who else but us humans!
Arguably the so-called ‘industrial revolution’ which was supposed to deliver a life of ease to mankind; has instead been more responsible for bringing destruction to this beautiful planet, even threatening all life upon it.
Of course for the wealthy few and powerful it has indeed meant apparent ‘life of ease’, but definitely not true satisfaction, happiness, or contentment. And for most of the remaining 99% or so of the world’s population what has it brought?
‘The answer my friends is written on the wind’, as the song well says. Who can honestly say that industry and technology have truly improved the quality of life for the majority of earth’s populations today.? In fact the very opposite is true!
How ironic and sad that what was generously provided for mankind’s benefit and enjoyment by his loving Benefactor has been contaminated, misused, and all but destroyed by the recipients!
Isn’t it time to honestly take stock of our true condition and make amends with our Creator?!
As a life-long Canadian and frequent hockey game watcher, I would like to pose a simple question:
Why are the Stanley Cup Playoff’s seriously different from the regular NHL (National Hockey League) games in terms of rules and regulations?!
Since when and why are the playoffs a so-called ‘game-changer’? This doesn’t appear to be the case in any other professional sport, football, soccer, basket ball etc., sports that are every bit as competitive as hockey, so why is it ‘normal’ in the NHL?
If those teams who have managed to achieve the level of efficiency, skill, and/or team-success playing under the supervision of referees and according to rules and regulations, why oh why, do so much of that control simply disappear simply because its now time for those self-same teams to finalize the season?!
Its much like saying to football or soccer players; ‘it was necessary for you to obey the rules during the season, but now that you are playing for the top spot you can kick, bully, thump, and otherwise abuse your opponent with impunity!’
How outrageous is that approach to all legitimate professional sports?!
And yet that is what seems to occur in the NHL, year after year. The commentators happily declare; the referees ‘have put away their whistle!’, simply because it’s the final games of the season. Therefore the players, with little or no guidelines, proceed to advance from bad to worse in their onslaught of fellow players,a and skill becomes secondary to physical abuse.
IMHO this obfuscation of legitimate rules and regulations shamefully reduces this ‘sport’ to little more than back-alley gang warfare, or ‘survival of the fittest’ mentality, and frankly, if I was involved as a player, I would walk-off in protest… ah but that action would surely bring upon them the same sort of criticism that ‘whistle-blowers’ receive today.
Such moral action would take far more intestinal fortitude than cooperating with the brutal suppression of rules and regulations at playoff time. Without any doubt the priority for league owners is to appeal to the lowest common denominator akin to mob-rule, contributing in no small way to greedy profits.
