This may be a whimsical post if you will, however it may have some scientific relevance imho. My question is “why is humanity so fixated with a spherical shape?“

Think about it, nearly every sport involves some form of a ’round object’, usually some kind of ‘ball’! To name just a few examples: baseball, football, basketball, tennis, golf, lacrosse, volleyball and the list goes on!

Even more intriguing, not only humans, beginning in infancy, seem to have this fascination for  spherical objects, but many animals exhibit a similar natural trait! Just ask a police dog handler, or even most pet owners! Could it be because our home, planet earth is a sphere that we are somehow born with this apparent genetic trait? It just seems to me to be worthy of some sort of research, hey, after all, research is done on even less important subjects don’t you agree??
